Reading in Room 9a

We have been working hard with our Reading and we are now doing more tricky activities during our taskboard time.

We can find two smaller words to put together to make a bigger word. These are called compound words.

snow + ball = snowball
pop + corn = popcorn

We are clever enough now to recognize our upper and lower case letters, then put them in the order of the alphabet using the help of the butterfly card.

Some of us are learning to read without finger pointing, we robot out words we don't know and try to ready fluently so that our Reading sounds like talking!

Can you believe how clever we are at Reading now?

Writing in Room 9a

The room 9a children have been at school for a while now.
We have been working hard to write down our ideas.

We are starting to write more independently.

We use our butterfly cards which help with letter sounds and common sight words.

We also use the word ending caterpillar cards to help us write word endings like - playing, played, player, plays.

Come into our classroom and ask to see our Writing books, we will show you how we push ourselves to achieve our goals and how amazing we are!

Phonics

We have been going to different classes for Phonics for the past few weeks.

Some of us are working on recognizing and writing letter sounds.

Some of us are working on hearing and writing the first and last sounds in words.

Some of us are working on using robot arms to stretch out CVC words like:

c - a - t
h - e - n
p - i -g
l - o -g
b - u -g

Look how happy we are to be learning how to use robot arms and spell CVC words (Consonant - Vowel - Consonant)
