Compound Words

We have been reading lots of compound words in the books we read so we have been learning about them in Room 9.

A compound word is 2 smaller words which are joined together to make another word for example:

pop       corn

popcorn

Mrs Burge could not believe how good we were at making compound words! Woo hoo!

Buddy Class

Our Buddy Class is Room 5!

We met for the first time, introduced ourselves and learned how to play paper, scissors, rock.

What a fun time we had.

This week when we met our buddy class, we celebrated Samoan Language Week by making Samoan Leis using straws, paper flower petals and fishing wire.

We love Buddy Class!

The Giant Walk

This week has been walk to school week. 

We had Crazy hat day, Funky Feet, Crazy hair day, twins, triplets or be bright and be seen day and to end it all, we had a Giant Walk!

We walked with our Room 5 buddies.

It was a long way but it was lots of fun.

Our buddies looked after us really well.

Thanks big buddies and thanks to all of the Mums, Dads and Grandparents who came too.

Fun in Room 9

Autumn Leaves

On Wednesday, Mrs Harding brought in some Autumn leaves for us. 

We wrote about the Autumn Leaves.

We used the leaves to make leaf rubbings.

 What a lot of fun we had.

Welcome to Sunnyhills Borayr

Borayr started in Room 9a today. 

He wasn't feeling well in the weekend so couldn't start yesterday with Mia, Alexander and Lydia. 

We are looking forward to getting to know you Borayr. 

Writing in Room 9 and 9a

Today we had fun during Writing

We used our butterfly cards and word ending caterpillars to write about the rat character from the big book. 

Cody ordered the letters of the alphabet which are written on cut up pieces of noodle.

We all practiced writing the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.

First day's at school are exciting but also a bit scary too as you have no idea of what to do. 

Mia, Alexander and Lydia did such a super job!

Flower Name Order

We have been learning the order of the letters in our name.

We had to cut the flower out first, write the letters of our name on each petal, then order the letters correctly. 

Look at Jennifer's finished flower. Isn't it beautiful.

Visitors for Room 9

Laela, Mia, Borayr and Alexander came to visit Room 9

Mia, Alexander and Borayr start school on Monday. How exciting!

Te Reo

We have been learning to count to 10 in Te Reo.

We sing a song to help us learn to count.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

We have also been learning how to say the colours in Te Reo.

Singing helps us to remember the colours too.
